Choco-Late de Batirol

The 'ber months are fast approaching. Nothing compliments the season's bed weather better than a cup of hot chocolate.

I perfectly enjoy homemade hot cocoa, but when I took a trip to Baguio, I heard from the grapevine that the best hot cocoa resides at a place called Choco-late de Batirol.

The goal of Choco-late de Batirol is to "revive Philippine culture and tradition" - going back to what used to be. It is all about preserving our Filipino Culture - Filipino and proud! Going inside the restaurant reminds me of the traditional Filipino Bahay Kubo.

You wouldn't recognize the restaurant at first glance as it is located within the thick view of greenery - I call it the restaurant within the garden. It is covered with leaves and flowers of bright colours which make the place extremely warm and cozy.

Choco-late de Batirol is literally Baguio's best kept secret

What is Batirol?, you may ask. It is our local version of the classic Hot Cocoa. It is made from native cacao beans which is meticulously concocted by hand in order to arrive at an ironically rich yet light consistency.

Every sip makes me feel like I'm home. You can choose from either: Traditional Blend, Baguio Blend, Cinnamon, Cointreau, Almond, Kahlua, Choco Mallows, Chocolate Cherry, and Choco Mint.

The next time you drop by Baguio, be sure you drop by Choco-late de Batirol. Try out their perfect blend of hot chocolate coupled with traditional Filipino meals.
